Blue Sleeveless

One photo turned out today. For some reason the rest were blurry.  I had to drive today so could wear a pencil skirt.  Lots going on lately, very busy at work, we are moving into a new building with a very short timeline for the move so we suddenly have to go through all our old documents and purge a bunch of stuff. All this on top of the regular workload.  Then at home we are replacing all the gutters on the house and studio as well as repainting the whole outside.  The garden is growing like a monster and we have so many cabbages even the neighbors are turning down the offer of free cabbage (they've already all gotten some once before :)

I LOVE this time of year, the hot weather, having sun makes me feel so alive and healthy. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.  Off for a nice hike this weekend with a friend I haven't caught up with for ages so am really looking forward to that.

I also went to see a nutritionist today and was very excited about seeing her and what will come out of that. I'm always interested in learning more about how to be even more healthy and changing things up abit.  Will share more with you as I go.  Hope you are all well!!

Ship Ahoy

Last day at work and we are packing the last bits of run stuff and nutrition, clean the house, dump the compost and then head out on our trip for our big ultra adventure.  My in-laws get to stay with the fuzzy white granddaughters this weekend (its a long weekend here in Canada this weekend), and I mean they are here with the cats of course :)

Forecast is for rain where we are doing our run.  Running 100km in the rain. Please let it NOT rain.  Good karma come to me now. PUL LEASE.

Have a super weekend and I'll report back next week.  I love this outfit by the way.  I love fitted clothes and I love these pointy red shoes and I love pencil skirts.  I need to find the equivalent of this outfit in terms of how I feel wearing it so I feel this way every single day (at work at least :)

Over n out.

Emergency Exit

After I got dressed I realized I look like a flight attendant today.  I got to work and had 2 people say right off the bat " you look nice today" then I waved my arms along my sides and indicated the emergency exits were to the side and they laughed and said " yeah, you do look kindof like a flight attendant".
I had a HUGE weekend of exercise. Does that sentence make sense? Does it evoke the sense that I did alot of activity this weekend?  Friday I cycled 100km (fast pace). Saturday we ran 5 hours at East Sooke Park (read: HILLY TRAILS), Sunday we ran 4.5 hours around Mt. Work, Francis King Park, and a bunch of other hilly challenging loop dee doos.  Sunday I ran 2.5 hours around Elk Lake.  Whoa you say. Thats alot of exercise!  It WAS.  I'm currently training for a 100km trail run that will take place in a really remote and beautiful alpine area in the US.  Can't wait and have to keep training hard to ensure I am strong and ready to go.

So today, legs off.  No exercise for me other than walking up and down the isles of the airplane :)
Hope you had a great day.

Leather Lady

I was wondering if my google analytics would go up simply because I put 'Leather' in the title of my post. Ha ha. A few years ago I had someone following me who kept telling me about the leather pants he wore, that he couldn't stop wearing leather pants to work.  Every time I happened to post something about leather he was back.  Well hello MR LEATHER if you are back reading this :)

I was inspired by Suzanne's recent post on chic leather style about all her awesome leather and it reminded me I had this skirt. Since it was a day I was driving to work I thought I'd wear it.  Not sure I would attempt to ride my bike in this outfit :)

And then there are these ' Fergalicious' leopard lined boots. I don't wear them all that often. The heel is abit narrow and I actually had even forgotten I had them.

I got lots of compliments at work and comments like " wow, leather!"  This made me think of some of the stories Sheila told me about wearing leather to work.   NO, I did not smack my butt at the photocopier and say "Who's your daddy".. hah hah
Happy Thursday.

The Blazer

Last week I told you I found a blazer that I actually like. It's office-y, which is what I needed for the occasional meeting.

This outfit is pretty conservative but I did have to go to a fairly conservative meeting yesterday.  Next time I'll spice this up with abit more color- different blouse or something.  I like the fit and the neckline of this blazer though.  Not bad for $6!!

This was my friday casual outfit.

You've heard me rant about stripes before. I continue to battle with them. Meaning. I continue to try to wear them despite them not wanting to be worn by me.  Sometimes I just sacrifice style for comfort. Friday was a paperwork day and I didnt have any meetings so not many people saw me anyway!

Heck, who doesn't feel good with a pink scarf on?
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

Happy Tuesday! I hope you are all wearing something that you feel awesome in today.

Office Tweedy

Taking these photos are so helpful.  Next time I will pair this outfit with different boots. Good to see how things look from the perspective of a photo versus my eye in the mirror.  I would wear chunkier leather boots vs these sock-like booties instead-- I think it would add more to the outfit.  Do you think the skirt is too short?

I love my new blue trench though. I hardly wear it since I bike commute most of the time. And how do I keep the dang cat hair off it. No matter what I do I end up with fine white cat hair on all my clothes. I never thought I would be ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE.

Off on my adventure for this weekend to go run my next 50 km trail race. Will report back and let you know how it goes. I've heard theres going to be alot of mud and snow at the top of the mountain. Should be epic.  Who wants boring???

Happy Weekend

More Snakeskin Please

As you know I love animal prints. I love animals too. Sometimes I feel bad wearing something that looks like an animal.  Snakes aren't all that cuddly and sweet though so I don't really mind wearing snakeskin.  Crazy hair though. So glad my hairdresser, or as some say "my stylist"  is available to fix me up and make me presentable. Don't know about you but it sure feels like I need to go more and more often and need more work. Like an old car. A heritage house, something like that.

Self disclosure here. I'm working from home for the rest of the day and am listening to Journey's Greatest Hits.  Yes, I like them for some reason. My babysitter used to listen to them so it takes me back. Quite awhile.

Hope you are having a super day.

Back to Work--The New Year

Happy New Year everyone!  Its amazing that it's already the new year. 2015 seemed to fly by so fast.
I hope everyone had a super holiday season.

Quick recap of what we've been up to...We did another 50km trail race in December that was fun (and challenging)- was very very windy and rainy so made it a long cold grueling yet fun day out there:)

As soon as I crossed the finish line one of my friends handed me a small bottle of fireball and said " HERE, TAKE A SWIG". Num Num it did the job!

The holiday season was fun. We went to the Interior of BC where there was lots of snow and did tons of cross country skiing and long snowy walks.  Lots of relaxing, reading, movies and eating as well!!

Now we're busy training for the next trail race coming up in February.  As you can tell I'm LOVING trail running and exploring new mountain ranges, new places around BC and down in the US. Must admit, I'm buying more nice running gear these days than worried about my day to day fashion and making due with all the clothes I already have.

Office Lady

Wool fitted skirt (vintage) and merino wool ruffle sweater. I felt like a real office lady today. Anytime I put on fitted clothing like this it just feels right.  Grey and black is my new go-to these days as well.

I am also happy to report that I am about 80% finished my holiday shopping (read: xmas shopping) which is a first for me. I love the family aspect of xmas holidays- the dinners and visits and really dislike all the commercialism around it.  Nice to have gotten the shopping out of the way before it gets too nutso everywhere.

Hope you have a super weekend. I've got a bunch of trail runs planned and can't wait.  Oh yeah.. I was just in Maui for the past few weeks... will post some photos of the trip in my next post.
Toodle doo for now :)

Well HELLO!

Well HELLO!!! It's been a long time since I've posted. And where has the summer gone? HOLY Smokes!!  I was so busy with all my trail races this summer I can't believe its mid September already.  I've clocked hundreds and hundreds of kilometer in the mountains lately and my last 50km race went up 8000ft and was in the snow. So crazy and fun. I ended up winning my age category and placing 5th overall so that was kindof neat!

Anyway, getting ready to go off to a week long convention for work. I'm just putting together all my outfits now.  I wish I could pull of blazers. They give a nice professional look to just about anything. Problem is I haven't yet found the perfect one.  Any tips on other items that would make an outfit abit more professional but still slightly casual (I'm not one for sweaters either though :)

How are you all???

Coral and Crazy Skirt

Happy Monday. Looks like some gremlins got into my camera on the weekend-- After downloading these I see  the ISO is cranked WAY up by mistake so you get scratchy vintagey looking photos today.

The blogger meetup was this weekend which was awesome but I'm going to write a proper post about this specifically.  Right now we have to quickly clean the house and get everything organized for some company thats coming.  This skirt drives me nuts every time I wear it because its so narrow at the bottom. I have to walk up the stairs sideways Stoopid design.  I feel sorry for the ladies who had to wear these all the time in the older days.

Hope you had a super weekend lovelies!!

New Favorite Top

I would never have bought this top. Its long and straight- meant to be worn untucked likely and on a rail thin girl or someone who suits straight cut untucked. Thats NOT ME. I like it and tryed it on anyway and had this skirt in mind.  I actually quite like it and nice to have a pop of color with the black.

I've been working late night preparing for a big board meeting coming up can't wait for this weekend since I'm doing a really challenging trail run/mountain climb.  There might even be snow up there.  Will report back on Monday assuming I make it out alive :P

Happy Weekend

Going for Sleek

A quick throw together outfit that I quite like. I just bought this black skirt with the faux leather waist/hip band and paired it with a black t-shirt.  And what do you think of my new neutral sandals? These shoes are SO comfy even though the heel is high.  Shoddy photography today though as I have the power cord showing in the background. Oh how can you tell I'm not a details person??? hah hah

Did 2 amazing trail runs this weekend and got lots of mileage in on new trails. Oh I love  trail running SO MUCH!!

Hope you all had a super weekend!!

Nautical Pencil

Okay, I told you I was sick for a couple of weeks, well, then my mom showed up for a surprise visit. That was awesome but means I've been either MIA or crazy busy with my mom.  I feel like I'm getting some wardrobe mojo back.  I usually can't wear stripes but found this cute little t-shirt and love it... I love the nautical look so thought I would try pulling this off. And why fight it-- Pencil skirts were made for my body type!!

Hope you are all well.  Any new fashions/styles you are trying out that you usually would stay away from?

Classic Chic

I can tell my fashion mojo has been missing for quite awhile. Today right off the bat I got 2 compliments: " Wow, great skirt--love your outfit", "You look really good today".
Compliments on my OUTFIT???  I can't remember the last time I got that kind of compliment which tells me that I've been dressing so usual and boring that no one has noticed anything that stands out or looks good (and at least taken a moment to acknowledge it).

I've got a big closet clean out scheduled and am going to get rid of alot of stuff and make room for some new things. Even a couple of new items can make a big difference and they dont even have to be expensive.  I recently saw this post about key items for updating your wardrobe:  8 Spring Updates for Business Casual.  I think I'm going to go shopping soon!!

Sassy Monday

Happy Monday to you all. It's finally beginning to feel like spring. Sunnier days, warmer weather.  I always feel sassy when I wear these kinds of skirts and boots. The skirt moves when I walk and my boots go "click click click" on hard surface floors.  I got tons of work done today as well so I think I channeled energy from my sassy outfit.

Hope you had a great start to your week?  YES?NO?

Leather Lady

I had to drive to work today since I needed the car for meetings which meant I could wear my skirt and boots that arent practical to ride my bike in. I don't know about you but I usually dress based on how I'm commuting. Usually I ride my bike to work and its not far so I can wear skirts and heels etc however, if I want to wear my hair differently or more fancy or a pencil skirt or higher heels it only really works on the days I need to use the car.  Bike riding in a pencil skirt doesnt work all that well (YES I DID TRY IT:)

Its rainy then sunny so we dont actually know if spring is coming or it still just a bit of tease from an early peek of spring. Hence I wont pack away my favorite dark colors for awhile yet!!

Hope you had a super day.  What is you main mode of travel to work and do you have to plan your wardrobe based on travel considerations?
