Casual Sunday

And its Sunday already! I am busy packing for heading off to my Ironman race. Can't believe its almost here. I've been training since November for this race.  Leading up to it I have had both some real discouraging races (pulled out of my first 1/2 marathon due to achilles injury, and didn't finish a 1/2 ironman race because of some other technical difficulties) and some really successful races (placed 4th in one of the toughest half ironmans around and then placed 3rd in a very competitive Olympic distance race).  I am ready and eager to get moving on this big race and hoping to place well in my age category so I have a chance at the World Championships.  Will keep you posted on that!!

Casual outfit to run errands today. My FAVORITE vintage bag from Thailand- I picked it up in Bangkok for about $4.00. I LOVE it.  And a goofing around shot showing off my baby muskles :)  Someone was walking by when I took this shot and they were certainly gawking. I felt embarrased- like they must think I am pretty egotistical standing there taking photos of myself flexing my muscles.... LOL whatever, as long as they didn't already know me from around town!!

Packing and cleaning for the rest of the day. Will hopefully see you all tomorrow!! Have a super rest of the day! J

Training Adventure

Happy Friday ( I posted this Friday and for some dumb reason it was in my drafts folder by accident)!! I thought I would give you a snapshot of some of what went on during our hardcore training camp a couple of weeks ago.. Drove up into the interior of BC where its fruit growing and wine country.Very nice, very HOT!! We pigged out on cherries (only to be sorry the next day if you know what I mean :)! Day One we were supposed to do a long ride and I ended up breaking a spoke and having to take it into the local bike shop to get replaced. ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B. It was about 30-36 degrees most days which is really hot for us here in BC. So hot in fact that we stopped after our ride and bought a big bottle of ice cold coke zero. Now, you would normally NEVER see me drinking something like this but boy I felt like a kid in a candy shop.. YUM just the pick-me-up I needed!!

As you can see, Day Five was a swim and run. Leaving from the giant peach and all. Then sushi dinner before our BIG ride of 180km plus 11 km of extreme hill= 191 of calorie burning machines!! Sushi is our tradition before any long ride and the night before a race. Last photo of ONE of the SEVEN rollers we rode. Long, up and down, windy, hot, lots of squashed gophers on the roadside to dodge.. oh and I almost hit a bear also- that is a whole other story.

All in all we put in over 500 km, ran over 12 hours of mileage and swam about 6 km in 6.5 days. We felt very strong when we came back- so strong in fact, I placed 3rd in a triathlon I did only 2 days back from camp. Gotta love it!!

Thanks a brief glimpse into my world and now you can probably see why I haven't had alot of time for outfit photos (nice fancy outfits anyway :)

HAVE A SUPER WEEKEND!! xoxo J

Wedding Attire

Hello!! It's been awhile. I was away for a 10 day training camp: rode over 500 km, ran more than 11 hours total, swam about 5km and had good rest and ate really healthy. Finished off the camp with a triathlon and placing in the top 3!! Not bad. I am feeling really strong and ready for my big race at the end of August!

Then, rushed home to get to a wedding of a dear friend (and husband in first photo) who had a beautiful garden wedding in a fantastic Gary Oak forest surrounded by a big beautiful grassy field.  She had such an awesome dress on- it was light yellow silk and she had it custom made, she was wearing her grandmothers pearls and all around she looked amazing!! Of course all us girls were crying during the ceremony.

I didn't get the greatest photos- this was very challenging to capture because there was such a mix of shade and sun- all my photos turned out really dark.  Oh, and guess what? I got my silk dress for $7.00 at my favorite thrift store! Can't believe it - BUT in typical Jodi fashion I slopped chip dip on it within the first hour of getting there... oh boy.. can dress me up but not take me too far!!! LOL

Anyway, all is well, life is awesome, work is busy and training is exceptional!!  Hope you are all doing awesome too!! xoxo J
