Wrap Around Me

Someone left the camera on manual focus... hmmm wonder who that could have been. OH DARN it was ME!!  So my photos are creatively artistic today :)
I love wrap dresses and hardly wear this one. I got inspired to pull my dresses out and start wearing them.

This is from when I changed the lens to the prime lens.. somehow the photo is in focus (by mistake obviously ha ha).
The gal that works with me in the office said " OH, you look nice today. You must have a power meeting or something...".  No, I replied. Just time to wear the dresses I have :)

My stylish inspector Gadget jacket.

AND  I can't wait to show you the fitted blazer I found today!!!  I have never been able to find a blazer that suits/looks good on me and this one is perfect!!  I think I got good luck from Sheila or something. The fashion gods are acknowledging me for making good purchases this weekend or something.  I can hardly wait to show you this blazer. Now I have something to pull out when I need it for those kinds of meetings!!

Hope you all had a super day especially since it's hump day and all.  Sorry if I made your eyes hurt with my blurry  photos.

Simple Grey Dress

I know, I know, I don't post often enough... I have been wearing some decent outfits... just preoccupied with work lately. Well. And I must admit I was away for over 2 weeks in Maui. Wishing I was in that heat right about now thats for sure!  Two of our team members at work are both leaving on parental leave at roughly the same time so thats causing a big gap at work.  I'm sure going to miss them both as well- they are both awesome to work with and I work very closely with them.

Okay about the outfit. I love this dress!   I don't have many dresses but this one is so simple and (I think) chic.  I bought it on sale at the end of the summer and when I went to pull it out to wear it realized they had left the big plastic security tag on it.  Not sure how I even made it out of the store but anyway.  So I had to dig through all my receipts to see if I even had it any more and then go back and ask them to remove the thing.   This dress was an awesome deal too... a $200 dress and I got it for $45 since it was at the very end of the season.  Guess thats really the way to shop isn't it?

How are you all doing?  What are you plans for the holidays?

Red and Leopard? Leopard and Red?

It was POURING rain today and I rode to work and home for lunch and back wearing this outfit and my beige trench coat. Yes, I got soaked. Especially my hair!  I just felt soggy and frizzy all day.  Thats life though right?  You just have to roll with it and not let circumstances dictate how your day goes.  I love riding my dutch-style commuter bike in skirts and heels and my bag in the basket on the back, its so fun regardless of whether its raining or not.

I definitely feel WAY better wearing defined waists, larger belts etc vs baggier looser clothing.  I just need to shake things up and mix and match more outfit ideas.

Tonight we are siphoning our homemade elderberry cherry wine into bottles.  How fun.  We're always making some kind of homemade concoction around here!

What are you doing tonight?

Another Zebra Day

You've heard my rants about remote controls. Well. I ordered a new one and recently received it.  $30 it was! HOLY SMOKES.  Anyway, it works great in terms of communication to the camera and its only 1 piece.  The other ones I had you needed to connect 1 piece to the camera and turn it on, then use the handheld remote to activate it.  So anyway. This is only 1 unit so is convenient and looks pretty sturdy so I am hoping I don't break this one too :(    The downside is it only has a 2 second delay, not 10 seconds so I have to act fast and put/hide the remote before the photo gets taken.  Always something to keep things interesting!!  So consider this a disclaimer that if I look stunned in my upcoming photos its due to the timer delay issue (and no, I can't set the 10 sec timer on the camera and activate it with the remote :(

What technical issues have you had to deal with as a blogger?

Jeans and Blazer

Hair dressers should not be allowed to go on vacation. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks before getting this mop cut. Am looking scraggly today.  Am still working on finding a good place close to home to take photos. Since we've moved our backyard is not as ideal for photos and the inside of the house is under construction/renovations, etc most of the time.  Anyway, at least I'm getting fashion conscious again and posting so thats a start :)

Happy Super Duper Weekend to all of you!! Hope its a great one.

QUESTION:  Any recommendations for good camera remote controls?  I keep breaking mine!! The one I have communicates with the camera but then is fiddly to actually tell it to take the photo! URGH why do I have such bad luck with these stupid remotes (roll eyes!!).

Purple Top

Dressed for comfort today and a day long planning meeting where I'd be sitting around talking all day.  While I feel comfortable I still always feel sloppy wearing this type of clothing- I like more fitted stuff for work, belted waists and definition.  It's always the fine line of finding a balance between feeling comfortable and looking professional. Luckily my job allows for both and I don't need to dress super fancy unless I have a big provincial or national type meeting.

What's your preferred style of dress for work or do you have a dress code?

Slouchy Day

Well Hellooooo!!  I am so guilty of being too busy to take outfit photos and to be honest, even worry about how I look these days.  Its crazy season-- getting close to fiscal year end means lots of budgeting, reports to write, planning to do.  AND on top of that I am training for extra long distance races this year.  We have our first long race in a few months that is a 60 km cross country running race.  Yes, I said sixty kilometers. Running. My base run these days is 2.5 hours running and the duration is slowly going up over time.  As a way to get a good cleanse in before things ramp up too much I've been doing alot of Juicing with my Champion Juicer.  I've had this baby for over 20 years now and it's still going strong.

Today's lunch was green juice made of: apple/kale/spinach/celery/ginger/lemon.  And let me tell you it was some YUMMY!!

As for the outfit- I worked from home and had to run out to the bank so this is what I threw on instead of going out in my stretchy pants and hoody :)

Miss you all and will do my best to get by for a visit soon!! MWAH

Static Wrap Top

This top reminds me of TV static. While I love the color and the concept of this top, it is extremely annoying to wear. The built-in scarf keeps sliding around  and even between the time I adjusted it for the photo and actually took the photo it was already not sitting the way I had it. It slides into this figure 8 configuration and then pulls the sides of the top down so I hang out everywhere. Very strange.  So. I am thinking about how I might be able to sew it to secure it somehow, OR cut the top up and modify the whole thing somehow.  Anyway- What do you think of the new boots? I got these ones recently as well. Nice soft leather and sooo very comfy to wear.  You know me. I love boots!!!

Black and Grey: My outfit matches the Weather

And another grey and rainy overcast day... this is just the beginning, however- we don't have it as bad as they do in Vancouver.  I got this skirt when I bought the purple one and it fit like a glove. This is an old vintage skirt and you know- whenever I try on those skirts designed for ladies in the 50's and 60's they fit perfectly.  I almost don't even need to try them on, they just FIT.  Thats what curves give you... 50's skirts that fit like a glove.  Anyway. I wasn't sure how to wear this skirt and even did a search through all my blogger favorites for ideas on how to wear a black skirt so its not just the plain old uniform and I had a hard time finding ideas.  I then referred to Who do you want to be today by Trinny and Susannah) and then started out with Androgynous Look... it then morphed into this outfit. Call it what you want. Not sure of the style, but HEY< I felt good all day in it!

I typically get dressed around the kind of day I am going to have.  Will I be walking to alot of meetings? Will I be riding my bike (and have my helmet screw up my hair)?, How professional do I need to look for this meeting, etc.  The first thing that starts my outfit idea is what I will wear on my FEET.  I then plan around that.

QUESTION: How to you plan your daily outfits?
