Ship Ahoy

Last day at work and we are packing the last bits of run stuff and nutrition, clean the house, dump the compost and then head out on our trip for our big ultra adventure.  My in-laws get to stay with the fuzzy white granddaughters this weekend (its a long weekend here in Canada this weekend), and I mean they are here with the cats of course :)

Forecast is for rain where we are doing our run.  Running 100km in the rain. Please let it NOT rain.  Good karma come to me now. PUL LEASE.

Have a super weekend and I'll report back next week.  I love this outfit by the way.  I love fitted clothes and I love these pointy red shoes and I love pencil skirts.  I need to find the equivalent of this outfit in terms of how I feel wearing it so I feel this way every single day (at work at least :)

Over n out.

Houndstooth and Red

Wow, I had a super trip to San Francisco. I love that city. So awesome. I walked so much. Just sight seeing and enjoying people watching. Lots of excellent restaurants and coffee shops.  Wish I had a few more days there but back to  work it was for me today!  I can only wear this pencil skirt on days I use the car. NO way can I ride my bike in this one :)   I also love this red top, super comfy and fitted. I have never liked wearing those flowy kind of tshirt material tops that hang and move around. Makes me feel fat and frumpy.

Hope you all had a super weekend and an excellent start to your week.

Pencil Houndstooth

I was able to squeeze into this skirt today and wore it since I was using the car to go to a conference where I was delivering a presentation.  Suck it in I said to myself.  Sigh. The downside of NOT training for an ironman :(

What you can't see is that there was fine white cat hair all over this top.  I always swore I wouldn't be one of those people who had pet hair all over their clothes.  Not so with 2 white cats and someone who wears black alot.  I now own a nice variety of lint brushes and have one at home, in the car, in my laptop bag and in the top drawer of my desk at work. Wish they made them in leopard pattern. Would be much more fun than just red velvet.

Crazy Top

My busy crazy top. I like it though since it's fitted.  AND I feel about 70% in this outfit.. something about it. You know when you put on some outfits you just feel FANTASTIC?  I wasn't feeling the omph with this one.  That said it's usually the feeling that comes first and can impact the way you pull off the outfit.

It's so busy at work right now I'm on the edge of feeling like I'm dropping balls. AND I'm a productivity queen, which means its REALLY busy right now.  I missed my lunchtime workout (TRX  class) so was bit miffed about that-- I could see the clock ticking and yadda yadda they were going on and on and I couldn't leave. I was no longer listening either as I was busy thinking "I'm missing my workout for THIS??"

How was YOUR day?

Nautical Pencil

Okay, I told you I was sick for a couple of weeks, well, then my mom showed up for a surprise visit. That was awesome but means I've been either MIA or crazy busy with my mom.  I feel like I'm getting some wardrobe mojo back.  I usually can't wear stripes but found this cute little t-shirt and love it... I love the nautical look so thought I would try pulling this off. And why fight it-- Pencil skirts were made for my body type!!

Hope you are all well.  Any new fashions/styles you are trying out that you usually would stay away from?

Favorite little jacket

I know. I know. You thought, there she goes and posts a bunch of blog entries then disappears again! Sorrrrrryyyyyyy :(  I went off and did my trail race then last week was crazy at work and I fell off the fashion wagon and neglected to document my throw-together outfits!

All is well. My ultra distance trail race last weekend was fantastic! We had great weather and a great time overall then we went away on a little vacation to visit in-laws and do some skiing.

I love love love this little jacket and always feel good when I wear it. I had two random people tell me they loved my outfit today too so thats always a bonus :)   As you can tell I was also rockin the gangsta chain :)

Hope you had a super start to your week!

70's Skirt

This was fun today. I hung up an old plastic table cloth thing as a backdrop and it worked except for all the wrinkles and ripples.  I thought it would work well with this skirt.

I must say a big THANK YOU to Ally from Shybiker as the observation made was that I suited bold patterns the most and when I think about it I also feel better in these kinds of clothes so am now making more effort to create outfits based on that.  What a great bit of feedback that has made a big difference!

SO CRAZY-- I just wrote this then went over to Ally's blog and saw a post about me in bold patterns. NOW that is coincidence and so awesome. Wow oh Wow I am so honored!!!

Lurking at the Anglers Club

Testing the remote control-- remember I told you it only has 2 sec delay...

Hello in there??

Proof that my hairdresser should not go on extended vacations!! #pleasehelpme

Oh my! Someone has spotted me lurking at the Anglers Club!!

Quick photos today- still working out the kinks with this new remote control and trying some more fun shots instead of the same old stand and pose.

I still don't like this stoooopid skirt. I can barely walk in it its so narrow and each time I wear it I think to myself " I need to get rid of this stupid skirt" but then this thought gets sucked out of my brain and I pull it out and try wearing it AGAIN.  OKAY. it goes in the thrift/consignment box TODAY!!

Enough about me. How was YOUR day:) ?

Green and Leopard

Its cold out and I have to ride my bike so I dress for riding comfort.  And look at the mess our house is with all the boxes everywhere?  Moving day is soon approaching and I'm getting more and more eager. I also happened to snap a cat ACTION shot by accident. She is moving so fast her head is blurred.  Luckily the other one is slow so I can use her nice white fur as a background. She in actual fact DID used to be a cat model when she was young.  She was kindof a big deal. Now she's retired and abit overweight and living a simple life with us.

Gotta run, the chicken is burning in the frying pan :)

Conference Wear

NOOO I don't have a naturally smiley face as you can tell. I do feel better after yesterday's ppt and video fiasco though!!! I did also get alot of compliments even today for the great presentation I pulled off so its all good after all!!  Fitted clothes are my friend even on "I feel fat" days.  And don't you just love it when you find a blazer to match pants/skirt that just happens to be almost the exact same material?  Just dandy!!

Yes. Thats right. Red. Fitted. And a green computer. Not to mention animal print shoes. A good day all in all.

Always have a backup plan

Today's Lesson: ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP PLAN. Yes. I learned this the hard way today. Big conference.  I am a guest speaker amongst some of the well known leaders in the field.  Presentation did not go as planned. Powerpoint goes frozen. Video does not play. I am hooped.  Something seemed to happen to my brain, like I was suddenly in stupid air and I could not seem to remember anything to talk about.  Lots of long silences.  I could feel my cheeks turning red.  Honestly-- I wanted to bolt from the room.  But I didn't. I stayed. I made a joke.  I poked some fun at myself and how the presentation was not going as planned.  I asked the audience some engaging questions.

The voice in my head scolded: " what a crash and burn", "what an idiot", " they will think you are stupid" and on and on.  I quickly wrestled those voices to the ground and replaced them with "it's not the end of the world", "shake it off".   I don't know about you but boy my default inner conversations  are sure not supportive nor empowering.

Several people came up to me and made comments about their interest in some of my key points, complimented me on the presentation, and also said they could feel my pain when the technology all failed.  At any rate, I lived. I did not die (even though in the moment I wished a hole would open up and swallow me away).  A good reminder to not take yourself so seriously and just roll with what life throws your way in the moment!!!  LOL  What a day!!

Going Nowhere

I felt pretty darn good in this outfit as I made my way to the seaplane terminal this morning. Was heading to the Big City for a meeting. EXCEPT.FOR.THE.FOG. Thanks Fog. I got sent home because all the flights were cancelled. What a waste of a great outfit not to mention missing out on my stakeholder meeting. Sigh. What's a girl to do?

I sure notice the difference between wearing an outfit that I feel awesome in compared to one that I feel frumpy wearing. UGH.  I just need to pre-plan and put together more of the GOOD ones so I feel hot more often :)

High waisted pencil skirts are on the top of my list- as worn previously here Pink Top Pencil Skirt.
Nothin like some whoopa$$ sass in your day.

Have a good one,
J

Pink Top Pencil Skirt

Yes. I rode my bike to work in this outfit.  The skirt did, however, ride up almost around my waist by the time I sat on the seat and pedaled a few blocks. I got many looks from many men.  Looks which entailed big smiles I must say. That's my excitement for today.  Off for my brick workout which means I am doing a bike ride immediately followed by a run.

Hope you had a fashionably awesome day :) J

Conference Attire

And some more experimentation with hotel lighting.  This is the first wear of this new pencil skirt and I love it!! It was not confining- had enough stretch to be comfortable and very body defining.  I love the bombshell look- hey- if you have curves its pretty hard to hide them so may as well work with it right?  And, I would never have worn little ankle booties with a skirt before because I was always told if you have thick ankles you should stay away from this kind of thing- I actually felt pretty good in this outfit today and felt physically comfortable ( could walk and move around!)- thats a bonus!

I hope you all had a super day today!! xo J
