Green Giant

Pulled out the green tights today so I would look like a green giant. Still waiting patiently for my dang hairdresser to come back. Sigh.

Not much to report otherwise.  Busy day at work. No exercise- I was lazy/busy so there.

Did you exercise today??

Leather Day

Happy Day.  Leather day. Not a pants day. Jodi sings a happy song. Pants be gone you rascally things!!

I'm sporting the other cowl I made- this one has a few holes and dropped stitches in it but you only know this because I told you just now :)

Hope you're having a great day!   What was the highlight of your day today?

*&$#! Tweed Pants

I'm thinking of writing a book. A book about pants. The adventures of Jodi and THE PANTS. Something like that.

Seriously, I've always got some rant about pants, me n pants just don't mix all that well.  So these ones. YES they are one of the most expensive pairs I have ever bought. Got talked into it yes I did even though I know Jodi's fashions rules say "don't wear pants with front pleats" but I bought them anyway.  Why? Well, long legs, not floods.  High waisted, slimming for the waistline.  Dutch-made- high quality and very stylish.  All this and more.

So when I wear them I am too hot, itchy, all wrinkled looking and look like I have a puffed out stomach.  WTF.  Can you say sucker?  I know I should just stick to skirts but I keep trying...

How was YOUR Tuesday:)  ??

Jeans and Blazer

Hair dressers should not be allowed to go on vacation. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks before getting this mop cut. Am looking scraggly today.  Am still working on finding a good place close to home to take photos. Since we've moved our backyard is not as ideal for photos and the inside of the house is under construction/renovations, etc most of the time.  Anyway, at least I'm getting fashion conscious again and posting so thats a start :)

Happy Super Duper Weekend to all of you!! Hope its a great one.

QUESTION:  Any recommendations for good camera remote controls?  I keep breaking mine!! The one I have communicates with the camera but then is fiddly to actually tell it to take the photo! URGH why do I have such bad luck with these stupid remotes (roll eyes!!).

Librarian

My attempt at looking like a librarian today. I actually have the book "Who do you want to be today?" and its fun because it gives you ideas for how to dress in certain styles. For example they give ideas for : Sexy Bombshell (inspired by Marilyn Monroe or Scarlett Johansson) ...Ice Queen (cool perfection like Nicole Kidman or Grace Kelly) ...Rock Chick (wild and strong like Debbie Harry or Amy Winehouse) ...Sultry Diva (think Ava Gardner or Jerry Hall) ...Stylish Sophisticate (Coco Chanel or Anna Wintour) ...Androgyne boy-girl (Hillary Swank or Grace Jones) ...Boho (a la Kate Moss or Sienna Miller) ...High Maintenance (Victoria Beckham or Eva Longoria) (taken from review on amazon :)

If you are looking for ideas to switch up your wardrobe this book is kind of fun for that. I particularly like the BOMBSHELL section :)

What was your dressing style today?

The lady with the brown sweater

Working from home today. I was wearing my FAT PANTS (you know, the stretchy pants with cat fur on them and coffee stains.. hah hah).  And then I had to go out so I quickly slipped on my comfy jeans and sweater.  This sweater reminds me of one my mom used to wear when we were young except hers had 2 big stripes on the bottom.  It's the comfy sweater I wear when I want to just blend in and be warm.

AND check out my burgundy cowl.  I made this myself.  My second knit job. Well, I should say its the second cowl I have made. The other thing I learned how to knit is those cotton dishrags.   Yes, I am just so crafty. Step back Martha Stewart.  I'm here :)

What are you crafty at making?

Purple Top

Dressed for comfort today and a day long planning meeting where I'd be sitting around talking all day.  While I feel comfortable I still always feel sloppy wearing this type of clothing- I like more fitted stuff for work, belted waists and definition.  It's always the fine line of finding a balance between feeling comfortable and looking professional. Luckily my job allows for both and I don't need to dress super fancy unless I have a big provincial or national type meeting.

What's your preferred style of dress for work or do you have a dress code?

No Karate Chop Here

The days I take the car to work for meetings is great because I can wear pencil skirts and higher heels.  Pencil skirts on a bike don't usually work out too well I have found. However, this is definitely not a skirt I can do karate chops or kicks in. Its pencil alright.  And I love it.  I think I'd definitely be more stylish if I had to commute by bus or car. I'd do my hair up nice and wear impractical things.  Ha ha thats just not me though. I love riding my bike and feeling the wind in my hair. I just have to deal with helmet head when I get to work and what to do with my mop.

On another note I don't think I'll pair these boots with this skirt again, I think they're too clunky for a pencil skirt, probably would have been better with tighter fitting boots or some nice shoes. Oh well.  Note to self for next time.

What is your favorite way of getting to work (walk, bus, car, bike, etc??).

Little Birds

I finally figured out how to wear this scarf in a way that I like so now I can wear it. I like the little birds on it and that its red. Red is one of my fav colors. Its a big one, meaning, long and I don't like tying it and then having long ends hanging down. I tied the corners of the ends together in really small knots to make this like an infinity scarf and I like the way it hangs a lot better.  Friday at work is jeans day. Sometimes I wear jeans and sometimes I don't. I thought it would be a chance to pull out my little booties and wear them as well so this is what I came up with.

As for this weekend I'm painting the living room and even just doing the first coat on the walls the cats have walked through the paint and made paint paw prints ALL over the living room. When I tried to grab them to wash the paint off so they wouldn't try to lick it off and get sick, they ran faster and made even more (and even some skid marks) prints everywhere.

Note to self.  Lock up cats before painting :(  hah hah its all good fun though.  Chat later!

Ralph Lauren?

This outfit reminded me of Ralph Lauren country style fashion.  Tweeds, wools, leather. NOT like I look like one of their models or anything.. hah hah but I somehow felt 'country' today.  That said, its so valuable seeing photos after the fact and objectively assessing the 'what works/what doesn't work so well' about the outfit.  I won't pair this shorter lengthen turtle neck with these capri's again.  I don't like what it does to my mid section.  You know me. Curvy. I need waist defining and belts.  Try try again.

Here's some examples of the kind of Ralph Lauren-ish stuff I like.  Maybe I should try to recreate a few more of these looks:

I don't think I'd hang around with my friends like this but I would weather that skirt and leather jacket :)

How bout you, any designers or style type that naturally attracts you (whether you wear it or not is another question?)

Classic B&W

Happy Monday!  I'm getting back in the groove with outfit posting (yes, I tell myself. yes!).

Do you ever buy something and when you try it on, LOVE it and even think "I should get one in another color as well", then take it home, wear it a few times and think " what a stupid..<fill in the blank...> I wish I never bought this".

I bought these pants (on sale)-- first mistake.  And they are low waisted (which are on my no no list) so I bought them (because they were on sale).  A. They pick up white cat hair worse than a piece of duct tape would, B. because they are low waisted and aren't the best for me to begin with, they look terrible from the side and  get all baggy around the bum after a few hours.  AND you wouldn't really be able to see t--I do my best to hide it.

LESSON- maybe it IS true that its best not to buy things just because they are on sale AND its better to pay more money for well fitting clothing (have less but higher quality and better fit).

This weekend I also did a major clean and took a HUGE bag of clothing to the thrift store-- all the stuff I complain about and then wear again. GONE.  One item included was this striped top and come to think of it I should have added those white pants to the thrift bag as well!

Anyway, onward ho!

Black Jacket

Hello and Happy New Year!! I can still say that 9 days later can't I?  I've missed you all and hope you had a super holiday.

Okay. I LOVE this new jacket.  I have been keeping my eyes open for a new jacket for a long time now.  Even since last year.  I had 2 things on my hunt list- a classic trench and a casual jacket.  I also had so many unused gift certificates piled up from years gone by I thought I'd better use them up soon.

This is a Calvin Klein jacket and is waterproof. I love the tie waist and the high collar.  The downside is that has the stupidest pockets!  You can see it has big patch pockets with a flap at the top. Those are fake. Instead, you enter the pocket from the side (underneath the patch pocket) and it has no zipper or closure so anything you put in them just falls out.  Very strange design.  Anyway. I can ride my bike with this since its not too long and it looks great with business casual clothes for work as well and jeans and high boots on the weekends.

Can't wait to show you my new trench as well.

I'll come by and say hi later today, just heading out for a bike ride with my team!! Happy Saturday.
