Remix 2: The number 1 Ingredient

Day 2.   Who could NOT feel awesome wearing Leopard?  That, to me, is the Number 1 ingredient for feeling hot!!!  I got the idea for this combo when I was flipping through magazines when I was getting my hair done. The picture I saw actually combined a brown leopard top with the black tweed.  I plan on trying that combo after this remix.    I have had these boots forever and they are still in style. I love them.  They are just like socks with heels.  So stretchy and comfy and girly.  Today is darn windy and cold so I pulled out my black (and favorite) trench and it totally made this outfit.   Except I forgot to put on lipstick for my pics today!!! duh

Remix Items: Leopard top, tweed skirt, stretchy boots

I am busy writing today.  Have to write an article for local governments on the determinants of health.  That's another thing for you to know about me.  I LOVE writing!!     Will catch up with you later tonight Chickita's... until then... luv ya xoxo J

Remix 1: Ol School Boy

Day 1.  And we're OFF and running.  Today started in a very unusual way.  I DID NOT want to come to work. Or stay home. Or do anything.  I just feel BLAH and DULL today.  It will pass but I suspect its this rather gargantuan workload I have to catch up on at work.  It's like a hamster on a full speed treadmill though.. never stops.    Okay, on to my Day 1 Remix outfit:

Remix Items:  White longsleeve t-shirt and 3/4 length pants, knee high brown boots
Do I look like a dork in the hat?  In my opinion (yes, I am the expert on me, just ask ME what looks good on me (NOT)) hats don't suit me, and that's also why I always donate all those ball caps I get in race packages.  Visors are the way to go.  And these pants I hardly wear so I threw them in the mix so I would begin to wear them more. I am a skirts and dresses gal.

Enough rambling today, as you can tell my mood right?  Abit of an edge today.  hmm maybe I should get that bottle of secret juice from my filing cabinet to take the edge off.. hah hah- kidding of course. But I do like the idea of a fancy liquor cabinet at work. That would be so 70's and chic.

Reports, papers, emails await... gotta goooooooo!!  xoxox j

30 for 30: Jodi's items

Here's my mix for the 30 for 30 Challenge. My virgin voyage as a closet re-mixer and this is good!  I am realizing that since I have been fashion blogging I have been spending more money on clothes whether it be new or consignment!!  Thats not such a bad thing considering my wardrobe was in dire need of a spunk-up, and now this is where all my newly learned fashion skills come in.  Mix up what I already have!!  What I definitely have noticed, is that I have ALOT of black in my fall/winter wardrobe!!!

Accessories will include: jewelry, belts, scarves, and other adornments (am sure they will get more interesting as time goes on :), and additions such as jackets (and I am including a vest).

Lots of us doing this challenge so this feels really exciting!!!  Rev up your engines ladies...Happy Remixing!!!  Mwah, Jodi

Daily Outfit: From me to You

Well it's Friday!! Jeans day at work.  I pulled out these camel booties that I almost never wear and thought today is the day!!  And this tunic is a dark chocolate brown, which I love.  BUT for some reason I feel like some matured lady going out for groceries in this outfit, like a soccer mom dressed up.  I don't know why but I do.  So that leads me to the "From Me to You" part of today's post.  Several people have posted things like " tell us more about yourself".  So here we go:

  • I am NOT a soccer mom :)
  • I do not have kids
  • I am  5'10 and a bit in height
  • I am the only girl of 3 brothers (was a tomboy growing up!)
  • I have spent over 6 years living and working internationally in places such as Ghana, Egypt, Israel, Greece, New Zealand
  • I am an exercise fanatic and love moving!!  Of the 3 sports in triathlon (swim/bike/run) I am strongest at biking and weakest at swimming
  • My mom and I are best friends
  • I am LOVING this blog!!  I would never have imagined I would be having so much fun with it!!
So that's a bit about me for now.  And Hi to new followers, I hope either you get some outfit ideas or at least a couple of laughs here and there!!  No plans for the weekend other than planning my 30 for 30 ensemble for the 30 for 30 Challenge that starts on Monday November 8!!

Have a super weekend ladies and I will catch up with you this weekend.  MWAH xox J

Lovely Ladies: Shannon

This dress is  a departure from what I normally wear, and yet I feel completely myself in it. I bought it on a whim one day when I was feeling particularly young and vivacious, and every time I slip into it the feeling returns. The hot pink colour works well with my pale, cool skin, the cowl neck is flattering without being overtly va-va-voom, and the sleeves are great for disguising my upper arms without completely covering up.

I naturally have narrow hips and not much of a waist, so the shape-enhancing wide belt really works for me. I swapped out a slightly narrower, plainer belt for this one because the extra half-inch of width and the faux-gator buckle add just a bit more finesse.

I have worn this dress with jeans for a casual date, though I almost always wear it with light leggings. I once tried to wear it on its own, but quickly realised that it's just too short for me not to be self-conscious. And who wants that in an otherwise great outfit?

For fall and winter I love pairing my high boots with the dress and long leggings, though in the spring and summer it looks great with black wedge slides and knee length leggings.

There's a part of me that likes to hide out in life - to sit in the back of the room and try to blend in. To wear black and slouch a little. This dress doesn't allow any of that. Putting this dress on calls me to stand up straight, smile my most dazzling smile, and take life on.    You can always come and visit me over at my blog: Shan's Smiles & Winks.

Photoshoot compliments of Jodi :)

30 for 30 Challenge

Okay, I am nervous about this but I am diving in.  I am joining Kendi Everyday's 30 for 30 Closet Remix starting on Monday, November 8, 2010!!  See her beautiful invitation above?  Well YOU could join also :)  Wouldn't that be fun... then we could do it together!!

Here's what Kendi says you need to do:

What is the 30 for 30?

The 30 for 30 is something I came up with in April to help me learn my way through my closet by remixing my clothes. So here is the basic premise, I take 30 items from my closet (shoes included) and mix them into 30 different outfits over about a month period.

So you want to try it out? Good for you. Here is how to do it.

1. Pick out 30 items from your closet. Shoes are included in the count, coats and accessories (i.e. tights,  jewelry, hats, gloves, and so on are not.) I won't use a coat yet here in Texas, but you might in say Chicago so I don't want to penalize you for Mother Nature's wily ways.

2. Remix the 30 items into 30 or more outfits.

And that's it! Ok -- not totally.

3. No shopping for 30 days.

To find out how to join in on this, click on the pink invitation above or visit Kendi Everyday.  If you want her to add you to the list make sure you email her!!!

Oh boy.. are you going to join us???

Daily Outfit: French Forest

Salut!! Bonjour!!  Je suis dans la foret.  Hi, Hello!  I am in the forest!!  Ohhh don't I sound sooo french?
Well today's picture was taken during my lunch break with no tripod.  I was walking along a trail and found  something to prop the camera on so this is abit like SurvivorMan or something- making due with what I've got.  I love this tunic sweater because I love the color.. I feel like a grape today.  I feel like a french grape!!  Our meeting today rocked! It was so awesome and I also got to post some comments on a few of your blogs at the same time.. (heh heh sneaky me :).   I am off to go downtown to Old Quebec tonight all alone with just me and my tripod and camera and maybe a few daylight hours to look around.
What I am super excited about is that our next big research meeting is going to be in... drumroll....
New Brunswick!!  Won't THAT be cool?  I can't wait!! East Coast Canada here I come!!  I love my job.  I work with amazing and inspiring people and I get to travel to some really great places all across the country.  I am so happy!  Oh, yeah and I get to wear great outfits too!!

Love ya, xox j

Daily Outfit: Quebec Red Room

Long day.  No full outfit shot and too bad because it was a good one!!  But the lucky thing for me is now I get to wear it again and post a good pic of it (so I don't feel bad repeating outfits!! :)  I tried some night shots but was rushed since I was with the group from work so this is all you get tonight ladies.  I feel like a blog addict. It was weird not posting this morning and catching a few of you during the day and I caught myself wondering what great backdrop Emma was going to use today, and what kind of layered outfit Colette would wear and what great purse Twenty York Street would be proudly showing us... and what would Everyone Loves Lipstick make me jealous of yet again... and then in the middle of our meeting someone asked me a question and snapped me out of it..." huh, wa?  Oh, can you repeat that question... ".  AND I found myself more excited to see my national colleagues to see what they were wearing rather than to find out how they have progressed with this project we are working on... OH NOOOO am I becoming a slave to fashion????

Off to bed for me since it's also 3 hours ahead of my regular time here so I am all screwed up.  Miss ya and catch up real soon.. will do my best to get better shots tomorrow. Promise.

Hugs, J
