Remix 23: The'Emma'

Day 23.  Today I am wearing 'The Emma'.  I have officially trademarked this look for Emma of Daily Clothes Fix, since she is the first person I have seen wearing a skirt as a top!!!  For those of you ladies thinking " What? I have done that too, it wasn't just Emma's idea..." don't get your shorts in a knot.. that may be true, and just for today, lets give Emma a few moments of praise for her unrelenting creative talents throughout this challenge!!  When I got dressed this morning I was thinking, " Oh, WTF, what the h*ll am I going to come up with today... and then I asked myself WHAT  WOULD EMMA WEAR?"

Thus today, I am wearing one of my challenge skirts as a top. You can see it worn as designed here.  And just for the record, I have only worn this black long sweater 3 other times. It feels to me like it's ALL I wear!!  AND I dont mind these pants (member, they are the ones I said I don't like) with this outfit!

Remix items: Polka dot skirt, long black sweater, capris, stretchy boots.

Off to deal with some HR stuff at work... if you know what I mean!! URGH. Stay tuned for that saga.

xoxo Jodi

  4. I've done that before, and it is such a good way to get more wear from your clothes! It's a perfect way to stretch your 30 items!!

  7. Wow, this looks legit! I mean, you'd think wearing a skirt as a top would be one of those things that sounds great in theory only, but you really pulled it off. And the necklace is just divine!

  9. Oh wow, you have named your post after me. That is so exciting. The skirt looks great with the chunky belt and I love the pop of red.

You're right that breathing can become an issue after a while. I suggest a safety pin for the fastening to give yourself a bit of extra breathing room. Literally.

And that's so funny that you wonder "What would Emma wear?" because in the morning I have the same thought (often for some time). Ha ha.

PS another dress as a jacket today. And an experiment to see if I will look like Joey if I put four layers on.

  11. I used a skirt as a dress at the Ottawa Fashion Week and people thought that was brilliant! I emailed the designer suggesting she should really try re-creating that look!

The bold pop of red looks great on you J! The last photo is really beautiful!

  12. Okay, how do you even make the skirt into a top?
I guess I don't know if it would stay up or if it would even fit around my chest. LOL
running to closet to check this out.

  13. I just tried this with the skirt I wore today and I'm sure I'll be rocking it (flopping it?) soon. Can I call it "The Jodi"? Kind of a pay it backwards thing? Please don't end with me. At least three people read my blog.

    Can I be your mini-me?

  22. you're so adorable. Everything you wear is so, so chic and your narrative is clever and humorous.
I needed a little pick me up inspiration for the final push of the challenge, and this was it. thanks.

  23. That looks fab! I have a skirt I regularly wear as a dress, and another one I was planning to wear as a top for the challenge- although I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable wearing it out in public, so I applaud you for rocking yours in your daily wear. Oh, and I've tried one out as a capelet too- it's fantastic how versatile clothing can become if you're not afraid to take chances with it. I avoid the bra straps peeking out by layering something underneath.
