I need to quit trying. I have been so determined to make stripes work on me and they just DON'T. Darn it anyway. Well, I did find that one top I posted
here that I think worked.
I'm going to try this top tucked into a black pencil skirt and see if that works. If not it goes into the give away bag. I'm just getting annoyed about this stripes battle! And wow, amazing how different clothes have the ability to make you look HUGE vs Svelt. Sigh. Not a happy camper today.
Stripes affect our brains in a serious way -- they cause our minds to interpret visual information. They can create wildly-misleading impressions, which is why overweight people avoid horizontal stripes.
ReplyDeleteGiven your lean, athletic build, I'm sure there are striped pieces that work for you, but it make take some effort to find them.
Thanks! Think I'll try this one with a skirt and if not its out :)
DeleteThe stripes with the pencil skirt absolutely work. You look lean and strong and gorgeous; so, you know, like yourself!
ReplyDeleteThe above striped top, I think, is more the cut than the pattern. Dolman tops look terrible on me as well; you either have to accept that they aren't figure-flattering and wear them anyway, or give them up because of that flaw. But, it's certainly not you, it's the top. Trust me. I have a blog.
aww Thanks Gracey. Wish you were coming to the Vancouver meet up, would love to meet you :)
