Dressed like a Jock

Whoa I am even scaring myself today. I rarely dress  like this.  Today I taught my spin class and then went straight to the lake to run 10km.  I forgot to pack some other clothes and all I had were some shorts and an extra tshirt in my bag.. instead of going straight home I drove out to the more rural area to the  farmers markets for some veggies.. as I was driving around the farms I saw this old truck in the side of the road so had to stop.  The outfit and the background dont really match, but HEY, I can do whatever I want this week, RIGHT???  My hair is all greasy so thats why in pigtails and visor... oh I normally wouldn't be caught out in public like this!!  Don't tell anyone please :)

Big green salad with pecans and apple in it, wild salmon for lunch and I will spend the rest of the day weeding the garden and planting more seeds.  Oh boy. gotta love days off I tell ya!!

Island Life

I went on a spontaneous trip to a small island to visit a friend today. It was fantastic. We had a great visit-- took her dog for a long walk (photo above of him in a dirty pond) and then she made me a yummy lunch. Casual. I stopped along the way in this old field with an abandoned barn for my outfit photo.  Got to hang in the sun and read a novel (I like Jodi Picoult for good ol girly books).  What a simple, healthy, GREAT day. And yes. I have worn my jeans 2 days in a  row. Hows that for being a fashion rebel?  I promise something else for tomorrow-- LIKE SHORTS!!

Off to watch a movie.  This relaxed life is pretty enticing!!  MWAH xoxo J

Lazy day off

Guess what? I took the rest of this week off. About time I use up the millions of hours of overtime. So, today I slept in (well, only til 5am because I am used to getting up 4.5 hours AHEAD), and then had a nice cuppa tea.. bid fiance good bye when he left for work then I went out for a 3 hour bike ride. It was SO nice out today it was fantastic.  I stopped about halfway along this long road through agricultural area and stopped and sat in a grassy field for a little break and just felt so grateful for how beautiful it is here and  was actually marveling at what a great life I have. Yeah, and you may think thats like bragging or something, but I really realized while I was away how important it is to just enjoy life and all its little and big wonders.  I found this pair of wide leg jeans awhile ago so wore them today when I went to get groceries.  Not great photos today but you know what? Thats okay with me!!!

So I hope you are all doing well. It's good to be back and I will catch up with you over the next  few days.  I read a whole novel on my flight home. Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage by Elizabeth Gilbert.  Was pretty good!!

EAST

Okay.. I am on the East Coast of Canada.. in Newfoundland and this place is magical if you ask me. Its so colorful. I haven't gotten many outfit photos yet because I was mainly wearing jeans and runners so I could get in as much distance as possible for sight seeing.  Yesterday I ran up to the lookout and all around the city to scout out the sites while getting in a good 1.5 hour run. Was awesome. Just wait for some more colorful backgrounds... this place is photography heaven and the people are the most friendly I have EVER met!!  Off to my conference now!! xoxo Jodi

Fashion Beauty Friend Friday: Shoes

And another FBFF!! This week  the topic is shoes... My favorite!!  Come join us on Friday's so we can get to know you better!  To sign up go over to see Katie and ModlyChic, she is awesome!!

Shoes
1.What is your go-to pair of shoes?
ACTUALLY, its boots. If I could wear boots all season I would. I have an absolute boot fetish!!  I love boots. Did I say that already?

2.What goes into your shoe buying decisions?
Number one: does the shoe suit my foot and leg?  I have thick ankles and muscular legs so ie. stiletto shoes wouldn't look so good because my leg would look like it would crush the shoe and heel.  I would look for some version of this kind of shoe with a bit of a thicker heel.  I also ONLY wear flats with leggings. Again, with larger ankles, if I wear a flat and a skirt or dress, my legs just look like they stomped down the heel and its unbalanced looking.
Number two: comfort.  If they are for work- can I walk any distance in these (I often walk downtown for meetings), if they are for fun/going out- would I be able to wear these for between 2-5 hours?

3. The majority of the shoes in your closet are what color?
Animal print and a good variety of neutrals

4. When it comes to designer shoes what are your favorite brands and why?
OHHH this is embarrassing but I dont have a list of high fashion designer shoes that I think are "to die for". I have seen alot of them, but dont have designer names off the top of my head. AND I would likely not wear these high fashion kind of shoes anyway. BUT boots on the other hand.. thats a whole other story!!

5. If price wasn’t an issue, you’d own which shoe?
Similar to #4, I would just have a sh#tload of boots in my closet, of EVERY color. Leather, suede, flat boots, cowboy boots, knee highs, animal print, you name it!!!

Happy Weekend!! oxoxo Jodi

Contradictions

Summer dress. Winter boots. Yeah. Shorts and tights.  Short skirts and thick scarves. This weather is creating the opportunity for some interesting outfit combinations!!  This dress is too big and I was going to take it in (alter it) but not sure if I will even bother.  Anyway, I love the color and not a color I would normally wear.  I love the turquoise combination- I am wearing earrings that you cant see-- too bad.

I got this brown and coral idea from someone elses blog and I thought-- "I have a dress that color that I could wear with brown" and now I forget who's blog it was. So if you are reading this and it was YOUR idea-- thanks, you are da bestest MWAH.

This moment was brought to you by day2daywear. Now resume what you were doing:)

May Fourth

May the Fourth be with you!! LOL. Fiance has lunch and a movie today at work. They are all watching Star Wars because today is May 4th (May the Fourth be with you!!). How cheesey, but it sounds fun!!

My day already- I swam 4 km at the pool, came home, made my regular spirulina protein smoothie (with organic banana and mango- YUM), took out the compost, and cuddled (or TRIED to cuddle) our cat.  Then nice sunny walk to work.

This outfit is abit wintery, but whatever, it is ultra comfortable!! I am in need of upgrading my spring wardrobe as I have lost weight and many of the clothes I have don't fit all that well anymore.  Also, stay tuned, I am keen to create one of those shorts and tights outfits so will be doing some research on how to pull this kind of outfit off for my body type. Will share this in a Tips and Tricks post coming up soon!!!

Sending a HELLO today to Mrs. J, who has the BEST hair I have ever seen!!  And Sending a big hug to one of my newest BFF's - Katherine at Styleidoscope.

Have a super Fab day everyone!!! xoxo Jodi

Office Girl

I was trying to be like a model from the Sears Catalogue today. LOL as if. Well, when I was young I actually DID want to be a model. And I would practice poses from the catalogue that we got sent in the mail.  If you dont believe me, see below:

I am on the left in both shots and as you can see I already had my signature pose perfected at that time!!
Yes I was even willing to brave the elements by tying my shirt into a halter top in the winter to do outdoor shots and hope that some bigtime modeling agency would discover me in the small town I was from--  I would get whisked away to fame in the big city... never happened. sigh. so instead I have my own little corner of the internet to share my pretty normal wardrobe.  I did love that coat I was wearing, until my little brother puked on it in the car when he got carsick.. but thats a story for  another kind of blog... I digress.

Have a super day!!  LOL  xoxo Jodi

Rainy May Day

OHHHH I had nothing to wear this morning!! How annoying.. I want to do the 30 for 30 again just to make getting dressed easier... I must have tried on about 4 outfits and none seemed to do it today. I was just searching for something that could work for this RAIN!!  I packed up all my boots last week-- guess that was a bit premature???  So you get something not all that creative but animal theme. I also wanted something that would match my new umbrella so that was a deciding factor!  Fiance took the photos within 5 minutes this morning so they were quick.  And you can see my killer quad muscles here... hence why I normally wear skirts!!!  I have trouble finding pants to fit me because of my legs actually.

We did our adventure race this weekend and it was SO MUCH FUN!! I did the kayak portion. 5km of non-stop fast paddling.  We had 8 team members and we had to: downhill ski, cross country ski, road run, trail run, mountain bike, kayak, road bike, canoe.  Then a beer garden afterwards. I was bushed last night when I got home... Hence looking abit tired today!!  Here's a photo of weekend casual clothes when we went to pick up our race package.
Have a super day!! MWAH!! oxoxj
