Heres what I look like working on the computer this morning.. I have my laptop hooked up to another big screen and I took this with iphoto off my computer.

All Black Office Attire

A great find at the thrift store- a very fitted black skirt and its even designer!!  I'm even wearing my favorite ring (handmade in Paris!!).  Very windy stormy weather today- made my hair a mess but oh well being in black still made me feel good!!

I also bought the cutest dress for an upcoming xmas party.  I have black light-suede ankle booties that I  will wear with some kind of chandelier  or tear drop earrings.  Can't wait!!

Hope you all had a great day!!

Grey Fuzzy Chewbacca

Today I am wearing my Chewbacca tunic. I always feel HUGE wearing heavier knits and there is a fine line between the weight of fabric that I can wear not.  Even my hair color is somewhat like Chewies now too... hope you enjoy :0

Question: Does Jodi look like Chewie YES/NO   :)

Okay Fridays are good days to be rebels right?  Well, I am rockin the kind of top I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO WEAR. Bat arms. Not for me.  Length. Questionable.  Purple. Depends on the shade.

What do you think? Keep or Toss?

Black and Grey Chic

I finally went to see my awesome stylist for some bit of 'pep' to my hair. She put a few more highlights in and trimmed it up abit since it was getting to be like an unruly bush.  It was all one length and I can't wear it down that way- just looked like a big mop on my head. Now I have few layers so perhaps I'll debut 'Jodi with her hair down" on one of these posts!!
Quick shoot at lunch today... am wearing a black sweater dress and black tights underneath.  I like this grey tunic/sweater/dress but I can't say I feel fabulous in it. It's one of those items the sales lady talked me into buying if you get my drift.  Anyway, I pull the old rag out here and there to get a few wears out of it to feel like I have gotten my money's worth :0

Hope you are feeling awesome in what you are wearing and with what you are doing today!! xo j

Born in the Wrong Era

I can take a skirt off a rack that was made in the 50's, hold it up to me and know it will fit like a glove without trying it on.  10 out of 10 times this is what happens. Clearly. My body was made for the 50's.  I guess I am behind the times, or behind in an era. Anyway.  Another lovely red wool skirt got saved from the thrift store because of me.  $3.00 was not a bad price either.  I could barely buy and americano for that price.  I found a run down location down by one of the local boat ramps so thought it would be fun to pose there with all the knarly fisherman walking around.  Sorry there are none of these men in the photos but I wasn't brave enough to ask them to pose with me :0

Yes, and don't you love the plastic sport watch as an accessory.  I forgot to take it off after my workout this morning.. oh well. See, you can't take the sport out of the girl.  Not quite a total fashionista yet. Not sure if I ever will be, but that's worthy of a whole other blog post!!

Have a super day!! xo J

Holiday in my back yard

Leisure Day today. As it was a holiday. I started out with yoga, then starbucks, then meeting my man for breakfast.  Then we went for drive in the afternoon and went to a cidery to test some local cider.  This is my casual getting into trouble outfit :).

Happy Monday!! xoxo J

I always wanted to be a James Bond Girl

Black fitted tunic turtle neck with a built in belt. Leggings and  knee- high boots. I always feel like a Bond Girl when I wear this outfit. Or at least I wish I was.  I think I mentioned before I like the Bridgette Bardot look.. that whole era had some awesome fitted outfits!  I have a hair intervention next week. Going to see my hair stylist who I miss so much.  A trim or bit of style and some color will feel awesome!! woo hoo cant wait!

Hope you are having a noteworthy day... and if you AREN'T-- what could you do to make it one??  Mwah xoo J

Conference Attire

And some more experimentation with hotel lighting.  This is the first wear of this new pencil skirt and I love it!! It was not confining- had enough stretch to be comfortable and very body defining.  I love the bombshell look- hey- if you have curves its pretty hard to hide them so may as well work with it right?  And, I would never have worn little ankle booties with a skirt before because I was always told if you have thick ankles you should stay away from this kind of thing- I actually felt pretty good in this outfit today and felt physically comfortable ( could walk and move around!)- thats a bonus!

I hope you all had a super day today!! xo J

Hotel Lighting

Hello all!!  Reporting live from eastern Canada and from my hotel room.  I am currently reading a book on photography lighting techniques so am reading up and practicing with the lights in my room.  It was SO cold today while walking around- I had to buy some fuzzy gloves and wrap my scarf up real tight.  I must have walked about 10 km today exploring and hence I am wearing comfy clothes and boots.  The new style this year seems to be shorty tops and sweaters, boxy cuts- and its next to impossible to find longer tunic-style tops, which are the ones that suit me the most.  Any places you have seen this kind of thing you can recommend?

Hope all is well!! xoxo Jodi

Sneak out of the house Casual Sunday wear

I don't wear t-shirts much unless they are the girlie fitted ones... I HAD to buy this one in Kona though.. was too awesome to pass up.  Went to our team launch party on Friday and a friend asked me to be the photographer for her wedding vow renewal on the weekend- THAT felt like alot of pressure I must say- I am no photographer.. I just have a camera and a self timer thing-a-ma-jig.  Anyway it was a good experience and I did get some pretty awesome photos!  Hung out in the house for the day and had to go out for groceries so not lookin too fancy in these photos.

Hope you all had super weekends!! ooxo J

Black and Grey: My outfit matches the Weather

And another grey and rainy overcast day... this is just the beginning, however- we don't have it as bad as they do in Vancouver.  I got this skirt when I bought the purple one and it fit like a glove. This is an old vintage skirt and you know- whenever I try on those skirts designed for ladies in the 50's and 60's they fit perfectly.  I almost don't even need to try them on, they just FIT.  Thats what curves give you... 50's skirts that fit like a glove.  Anyway. I wasn't sure how to wear this skirt and even did a search through all my blogger favorites for ideas on how to wear a black skirt so its not just the plain old uniform and I had a hard time finding ideas.  I then referred to Who do you want to be today by Trinny and Susannah) and then started out with Androgynous Look... it then morphed into this outfit. Call it what you want. Not sure of the style, but HEY< I felt good all day in it!

I typically get dressed around the kind of day I am going to have.  Will I be walking to alot of meetings? Will I be riding my bike (and have my helmet screw up my hair)?, How professional do I need to look for this meeting, etc.  The first thing that starts my outfit idea is what I will wear on my FEET.  I then plan around that.

QUESTION: How to you plan your daily outfits?

Backdrops for your Photos

Someone sent me a link to this site the other day, its about portrait photography and I saw this post on color and backdrops and thought it was interesting.  When I first started blogging one of the things that I was excited about was the photography aspect of it, especially since I had just gotten what I call my BIG CAMERA.  I searched out colorful and interesting backdrops.  I loved it. Well. Then we lost our parking at work and I could no longer bring my car with the camera and tripod everyday.  I didn't much want to pack it to work on my bike or walking and so haven't had as much access to going for a drive at lunchtime to eat my packed lunch and scope out fun sites.  I even have a running list of great locations for future reference. For example, I was in chinatown the other day and I just happened to notice this tiny alcove that is painted an incredible purple color. My first thought was " That would make an awesome backdrop".  So I added it to my list.  *Side note: Evernote is awesome as an app on your iphone for this kind of stuff :)

Anyway, back to the resource link I was talking about: How to Choose the Right Backdrop Color for your Portrait.
