Boudoir Peek

Okay. I am scared and excited to tell you that I finally had the courage to go and get some Boudoir photos done!! I think I mentioned a few months ago that some girlfriends got one of their photographer friends to do a shoot for them. A  bunch of us were excited and curious so they arranged for a day of photoshooting. We each had approximately 45 minutes.  I have NEVER done something like this before so just went with the bascis. Man.  Some girls had HUGE suitcases full of all kinds of stuff!!  Anyway, I am both happy and somewhat shy about my photos. While I am fit and strong, to be honest, when I saw my photos the first thing I thought was " OH gawd.. is that what I look like? I look fat".  I am being really honest with you here.  I have struggled with my body image my whole life.  I was always the tallest and always the biggest.  It seems that all my friends were are always these petite little blonde creatures.

I eat really really healthy. I work out 2 times per day for my training. I know I am muscular and I like that. And I would love to be more lean. To take my body to the next level so that I am a better athlete.  I wish I could show you all these photos but I will spare you the gory details :), as well, it may not be the best idea to "plaster myself all over the internet" (as my mom would say), I have cropped a few of my favorites for you.    While I am always wanting to be more fit, lean and healthy, these photos really helped me to see myself objectively and be appreciative of the level of health I do have and the girly curves!! And to be honest, this was really fun and if you have never done it, finding someone you really trust and feel comfortable with can make it a really awesome experience!!

  1. Look at you, you sexy thang!

Is that what they call them... "boudoir" photos? Do Polaroids from back in the day count, oops, too much information! LOL. You look gorgeous and it sounds like so much fun since you went with your friends!

  4. Jodi I think that what is inspiring here is that despite any body image issues you still went ahead and did this - that tells me you are in control not your mind/body and that is fantastic.

I've just bought a book on this subject and I'd sy these shots would be right at home in it.

Photo 3 for me - it's too hot for colour!

  8. I LOVE the first picture! And I never thought you cropped them! I can see where you're coming form, as far as body image is concerned. I always thing I'm too fat, because I've always been the tallest and biggest girl in the class. Oh well, at least I got to stand out for something. ;)

  9. I have no doubt about it; you look your best in the first photo. The woman in the other two photos, could be anyone.

  11. I totally have that issue too. Or had -- photo blogging is kind of beating the bad body image right out of me. Right now, sure, I could lose 10 pounds to be at an optimal weight, but if I did that, I would still be big, and not delicate. I was always teased as a kid for being "fat" but if I look back at the pictures now, it was just that I was fairly tall (5'7") and had some booty on me. Down here in the south, there is a tyranny of body size in a major way -- girls are prized for being small, in a way that no amount of weight loss would ever get me to. No one is ever going to span my tiny waist with his hands because my ribcage is just too big. I got over worrying about that a long time ago though, and also realized that there are a lot of reasons to be grateful for my size, width of shoulder, and strength.

Anyway, these are great pictures, and I hope having them taken and realizing that you look so good makes you feel awesome.

  12. I think if we are being honest, we all have issues with the way we look, too short, too tall, too curvey, not curvey enough. At 45, I look in the mirror and wish I didn't look 45, but like you when I realize that I'm health and that aging is just part of life its easier to just enjoy whats good about you and let the rest go.

That said, you look striking in those pictures. Bravo for sharing them with us!

  13. You look great in all of these. And to be honest I think your body looks great the way it is...lean with bones sticking out not so cute. I think for your height you are the perfect weight. Don't be so hard on yourself you're beautiful!

  16. Congratulations! This is a big step toward confidence and self-acceptance.

You are, without any doubt, beautiful in many ways and, physically, you're a stunner. Hearing you say anything to the contrary breaks my heart. It's simply not true.

I bought a romantic short-dress last week that almost looks like a negligee. I've been contemplated doing boudoir-type photos of it just to see how close I can come to female beauty. While, in my case, I'll end up miles away from that, I'm going to do it anyway. I figure it will help me in unseen ways. Deciding to post such photos is a risk, but then, I ride motorcycles. Life is short; we need to grab joy by the collar.

I respect your choice not to post more explicit photos. I wish there were some private way you could share them with some of us. I'd love to see them because I'm sure your inner beauty shines through in them.

  17. Woman! You are gorgeous, you have a killer body, and awesome hair (by what my mum says).
I always talk bad about my body, but yet, I run twice a day, bike ride, am a Vegetarian.. I'm very healthy.. soo I shut up about talking bad about myself. And I feel a lot better about it. I would love to take pictures like these!

  21. I am sure you look awesome in the photos, you look really hot in the photos you posted. :)

I guess 90% of females have body issues, I do too. But all our imperfections make up our person, so I love them for it. ♥

  25. You are gorgeous! I understand not wanting to put it all out there, body issues aside you might get some unwanted traffic. :) I always feel like the "big girl" too compared to my girlfriends. Rationally I know I'm pretty slender but my relative height, wide shoulders and athletic build keep me from feeling as feminine as some of my petite friends. I'm getting over some of that feeling by fashion blogging. You would think photographing yourself all the time would make you zero in on your flaws, but for me it's having the opposite effect.

  27. I think you have an amazing body, hearing that you eat healthy and exercise makes it even more beautiful. Like you, I too have major boy images issues but deal by not eating which is sick. But I'm learning and taking steps to get better. One day I hope to have the courage to take sexy pictures like you and appriciate my body.

Btw I think you are the perfect amount of lean. Healthy, curvy and thin. Plus your calves are hawt. xo
