Blue Sweater and Leather

Alright team.. here I am feeling like I am under house arrest!!  I came up to my room during lunch to have some time to myself and snap my photo.. was going to head out to the long hallway but people everywhere!!  So instead I present you with another non-creative hotel room photo with not the greatest light. A photographic challenge today  thats for sure.  While I loved this blue/turquoise long sweater when I bought it I failed to listen to fiance who said " I hate those sweaters, why do all the ladies wear these long shapeless sweaters??".  And now that I see myself in the photo with the sweater on, not so sure if its a good buy (BUT I did get it on sale at a significant discount!!).

Is sunny out so I intend on getting outside as soon as possible.. no fresh air is driving me nuts, that and am still really tired overall.  Not to mention sitting all day listening to a bunch of experts talking.. ho hum dreamin up outfit ideas all the while!  Hi to new followers.. always nice to meet you- If I havent come by to visit you I still owe you a visit!!

Is the Sweater a YES or NO?  (be honest ladies... ?)

xoxo Jodi

  1. I'm not a huge fan of the sweater the way it's worn with this particular outfit. It looks like more of a lounging in leggings and a gigantic and cozy sweater type of deal, but the outfit you're wearing is certainly not loungewear. All it does here is hide your figure, but you don't have a figure that needs hiding. Perhaps belting it could save it from being quite so shapeless? It would be worth a shot to see how else it could be styled.

  2. I do love the colour of the sweater!

  3. I love boyfriend style cardis, but in my opinion they look better if they are a lighter material. If they are on the thicker side they totally hide your body shape. The colour looks great though.

  5. I'm anti the big baggy sweater thing in general, but can see why you'd grab this one on sale for pccassions.

  7. The color is smashing on you and if I looked that good in that color, I probably would have purchased it too. On the other hand, you have an absolutely amazing body and this cardigan doesn't do you any favors in that area and I'm not even sure it would belt well.

Like Bee said, maybe it'd be better as a more casual sweater. I wouldn't give up on it just yet - try styling it a different way and maybe you'll love it.

  8. I used to love big sweaters like this, but I am now totally in favor of a more form fitting cardigan or jacket. This is more for curling up at home in front of the fire to read! The color is fabulous...the scarf, amazing! You might just use the sweater for nights at home!!

  9. I think it is too chunky and big on you
    just my opinion
    Love the color though

  10. I don't think they're very flattering but there is no doubt they are comfy (and comfy looking). I usually reserve sweaters like this when I have a seminar I'm going to be sitting at all day, or when I know I'm going to be locked in my office away from people. Not to say that it looks bad , it just doesn't show off your rockin body! :)

  11. I think the color on the sweater is great. I'm not going to lie it's not super flattering because it hides your shape. I love big sweaters though. They are warm, and so comfy.

  12. I think the sweater can work, but maybe just over a simple dress without too much else going on, or perhaps belted.
At the very least, it does look super cozy and you can always wear it around the house.

Sometimes when i look at street style blogs i see girls in piles of huge overwhelming layers and they somehow work. it mystifies me.

  13. I love the purple and blue combo here.

I am totally guilty of wearing long drapey cardigan things all the time. You have to pick them carefully, and I can see where this one's going a bit wrong. The ones that I think look best are the ones that are made of soft lightweight jersey, because they follow my body lines and don't just look like I'm wearing a slanket. A trim cut around the shoulders/upper torso, small armholes and slim sleeves also help. I have one thicker merino wool one that I bought from Boden, and it ought to be beautiful but it's not. It's too chunky and I look like I'm wearing a bag. Generally, I think, for the long drapey sweaters they should be soft and fluid with no ribbed trim at the hem, and for chunkier materials the sweater should be more fitted.

All that said though, I can wear lightweight jersey cardigans in winter because I live in the South. You probably need them to be thicker and warmer and sometimes comfort trumps other considerations. This should be your great comfort sweater. It looks nice and warm!

  14. I like the sweater. I'm a fan of balancing tighter pieces with baggy ones.

  15. OKAY.. I already took it back.. I had the tags and receipts and went for walk and found the same store here and ALAS returned. NO MORE Sweater.. even if it was a good deal no one can afford to look frumpy!!
Thanks for your honesty ladies.. as soon as I saw my photo with it on (first time I wore it was today) I knew right away fiance was right.. shhhhh dont tell him that LOL

  16. Haha, Oh Jodi! I really enjoy the color. I am not sure if I would have taken it back...I think it would look great with tights, fitted Tee, and slouchy boots.

  19. I like the color of the sweater...but don't any like it in this cut. Like your fiance, I'm not sure I like all the extra material.

  20. Hmmmm, maybe I'm just not good at this, but I like it. I guess my thought is that every outfit does not need to show your curves. Rules are made to be broken - right?!. I think it's super cozy looking and not frumpy at all. Plus the color is great. But no matter, its gone now...perhaps someone else will give it a nice loving home to call its own ;)

  22. Love the skirt, please give it to me ... lol ... like the sweater but not with this sassy skirt, it's too chunky. I'd keep in the 'snuggle down in front of the tv or with the blogs' only and allow my cats to snuggle too.

You rock anyway - but fiance was right :-(. But, try Melissa's suggestion and belt it.
