Daily Outfit: Purple People Eater

Oh I love fall.  The colors. The sun. The leaves. Sweaters. Boots. Kale. Spaghetti Squash. Beans.Trip to Hawaii! I spent a good portion of the weekend writing  a funding proposal for work.  I was up late last night and early this morning and didn't plan out anything to wear.  So today, I am wearing a dumb outfit. Dumb, I say, because it isn't a good one and I look frumpy and boring. BUT I am smiling. SEEEEE? I am smiling. At least part of a smile.  One thing I really LOVE about this blog, and taking pics daily is actually seeing how outfits look from a one-dimensional perspective, without the emotional aspect that seems to come with looking in the mirror.  Do you know what I mean?  I guess I mean it seems more objective looking at a photo instead of judging how it really looks in the mirror.  It is easier to see what difference a belt would make, or that you should just kick those pants to the curb.

How bout you? Do you notice a difference between seeing your outfits in the mirror versus seeing the photo of you wearing it?

  1. Fall is really a great season.

This outfit isn't so bad. I like it: the top and belt are cool.

I definitely agree with you about the mirror/photo difference. I think the greater visual and emotional distance of a photo gives us more objectivity. It certainly provides us with a clearer view of what works, what doesn't, and what might improve an outfit.

  2. YOU SMILED!! So pretty!!

I agree totally with the mirror vs photo conflict. In photos, it really can seem sooooo simple all of a sudden.

  3. I don't think this is a "Dumb" outfit...it fits, it's flattering, and you're wearing a fabulous blouse!!
I find often that my outfits look better in the mirror than in pictures, mostly because I can turn and spin infront of a mirror to see the outfit from all angles...and when you take a picture sometimes the camera captures your outfit at the very wrong time (gust of wind creates a faux preggo belly)...but then sometimes pictures can give me a better idea about how others see my outfit

  5. I absolutely agree with you. What I see in the mirror very often changes when I look at pictures. Somehow I am able to remove myself and be objective noticing where I can add something or substitute something else.

Great post! You look terrific in purple!

  6. Actually since I started taking pics of my outfits for the blog I no longer just trust what I see in the mirror. Outfits have to also pass a photo test for me. Or at least new items entering my wardrobe must pass the photo test :)

  7. I love the blouse too and purple is ONE OF YOUR COLORS. Great and smiling photos. I do the opposite of you. I tend to smile a lot and sometimes too much in my photos. Sometime I have to keep it serious or less funny or giggly-looking if you know what I mean. LOL I understand why you say dumb though: the pants and shoes are pretty safe.

I personally feel like outfits look better in a mirror or at least that's what I think. Obviously I look in the mirror when I am dressed and before I leave the house so for the most part, most of the time I think I look great. But sometimes, I look at certain pics of different outfits and I go "what was I thinking"? To tell you the truth, most clothes look better in person therefore when you look at them in front of the mirror. Pictures don't capture the move, the feel, the true sense of the clothes. But unfortunately that's all we are left with (memories-wise - photos.) So that's why a lot of outfits don't look so great in pictures. And let's not forget the photo-camera adds 5 to 10 lbs.
